Tenecor Standard Acrylic Aquarium Buyers Guide: - Show Aquarium with Pre-filter
Show Tank with Pre-filter
Most of our show aquariums can have pre-filter or overflow boxes installed in the aquarium. The pre-filter is a watertight "box",
inside the fish tank, for drainage and return of water from the aquarium to an
external filtration system. The standard pre-filter shapes are the trapezoid, square and column as illustrated below.
An opening is cut in the tank top, over the pre-filter chamber, for access. Only
the model 80 Cylinder utilizes the column pre-filter. Each aquarium model has a
standard pre-filter configuration.
Below is an example photo of the standard configuration for the "against a wall"
type aquariums (Rectangular, Ultraquarium, Flat Back Hexagon, Half Cylinder, Bow
Front and Teneview) and "corner" aquariums (Pentagon, Quarter Cylinder, L-Shape,
Hexagon and Vista. Note: plumbing inside
the pre-filter is not shown.

Dark blue trapezoid pre-filter, dark blue back wall, single 3/4" return.
|

Black corner pre-filter, Pentagon aquarium, dual 1/2" returns.

Model 80 Cylinder Marine Ready Aquarium Package, black column pre-filter,
single 1/2" return.

Two important points to note:
- In most cases the pre-filter is the same color as the aquarium wall
i.e., dark blue or black. If the pre-filter is attached to a clear tank wall, the pre-filter plumbing and unappealing detritus will be visible through the clear wall of the tank, if that is a viewing panel for the aquarium.
- The standard pre-filter configuration of each aquarium is not modifiable
in the Build Your Own Aquarium store or the Package Aquarium store.
